Custom Builds for Storage
The Salt Point team is proud to have the ability to design, construct and implement custom builds for our clients to meet their storage needs. Our shop has produced all kinds of custom builds for home renovations, including closet systems, mudroom cubbies, storage benches, and even hidden compartments.

Custom Closet Addition with Vaulted Ceiling
We recently designed and built an addition with purpose of fulfilling our client’s wish for a dream dressing room/closet combination off of their primary suite. The vaulted ceiling design made for an interesting challenge. Though the room’s entrance featured only a 30” doorway, our team built hand-made cabinetry in our shop, disassembled each unit, and then re-assembled the storage features in the new closet space. Designed to fit with the slope of the ceiling, this well-lit spacious primary closet now features custom shelving and cabinets to store every wardrobe item.
Mudroom Features
Mudrooms are commonly used for storage, especially with outdoor items like shoes, winter clothes, coats, or gear. One custom build we completed for a mudroom was a storage bench that allowed room for sitting with a seat that flips up for hidden storage. This bench formed an L-shape with another bench that created additional seating space with room underneath for storing shoes and other items.
A client requested a more aesthetically pleasing custom mudroom bench, and we were happy to oblige. For this project, our team acquired and milled a maple slab with the intention of creating a wood bench that featured a natural live edge with a striking epoxy feature.
We are extremely proud of recent custom cubbies for another client’s mudroom. These storage features were meant to make space for seasonal shoes, coats, and other outdoor accessories. The cubbies were custom made in our shop with a “false/hidden” back to be used regularly while storing out of season items discretely behind.
Office and Closet Update
The ability to produce custom builds gives our team a lot of versatility with the kinds of projects we can take on. In this instance, we ended up designing multiple bookshelves to increase the storage area available in a home office. These units added plenty of storage options for the homeowner without sacrificing square footage in the room, while adding a high-end feel.
Additionally, we added custom framing to the closet that was connected to this office, creating more space for hanging clothes and storing other clothing items. A beautiful dual-level countertop was also put into the space to make room for organizing laundry and other accessories, increasing the functionality of the closet.
