High-end design and extreme contrast are hallmarks of the work Salt Point Services offers. A recent SPS home renovation of a 1800's cape cod in Cazenovia is the perfect example of this.

We were brought to this “diamond in the rough” property with the goal of transforming it into a pristine farmhouse with unique details perfect for entertaining and living life with a family.

While the home mostly needed A LOT of TLC on the inside, some exterior updates were done, including new windows and a brand new roof.

The interior of the home was where we spent most of our time and renovation magic. The home was dark and crowded - with carpet in most of the rooms. There was a lot of work to be done, but we were able to catch a vision for the home to bring it up-to-date, showcasing its charm.

The home was gutted and a new layout was designed for entertaining and family-living. One of the most gorgeous yet simple choices were the wide plank pine floors in the living room that extends into the kitchen, which boasts classic subway tile and open shelving. We also added a breakfast nook and a butler’s pantry.

The existing sun-room was cut off from the main living area, so we opened the wall up for two entrances, which created a natural flow to the beautiful wooded property. The fun detail in this room was a shiplap ceiling, which, when paired with the dark tile floor, allows for a cozy feel without feeling cramped.

The half bath is incredibly unique design with artistic floor tiles, original shiplap walls from the cottage exterior and gold fixtures to reflect its roots.

The bedrooms also needed complete renovating. The first floor master suite includes a separate dressing room or private sitting room, and fully renovated the bathroom with a walk-in shower and double vanity. Lots of creative tile work was done here, including chevron floor tiles and creative tile work in the shower surround.

On the second floor, two bedrooms were gutted and rebuilt with a freshly renovated full bath. Upstairs offers loft like space perfect for an office, as well as additional twists and turns off the bedrooms perfect for reading nooks or play rooms for the kids.
